Following today's release [1] of Rosegarden-1.2.4 [2], I've uploaded to
ftp.mandriva.com/incoming/cooker a new source RPM package. The 1.2.4 release
addresses several issues with the prior 1.2.3 feature release. 1.2.4
introduces no new application features, only bug fixes.
This RPM source package uses the internal scons-mini build system, so it
doesn't depend on an external scons, only Python is required. I hope this
makes it easier to build this application. I've also changed the name of the
package, according with the new name policy from upstream. This is a
quotation from the README file: With this release the name of the project has
officially changed to Rosegarden. Formerly it was referred to as
Rosegarden-4 in order to mark the current application as newer than the
long-obsolete "Rosegarden 2.1", a quite different and more basic application.
This RPM source package explicitly requires dssi-devel [3] at build time,
which is a contrib package already in Cooker. This is a problem, because
Rosegarden is in the main section and should not depend on another package in
the contrib section. One solution is to remove the "requires: dssi-devel"
line, and the package should build fine without any other spec modification
and with no DSSI support, but this may be disappointing for many Rosegarden
users, who have liked the DSSI synth plugins as a very nice and useful
extension for Rosegarden, so I would be very grateful if you move dssi and
dssi-devel to the main section and we can enjoy a full featured Rosegarden on
Mandriva 2007.
