Hi,

The Core Updates 2 is expected RSN and brings:

- Improved hardware support:
* Add Intel 'Tulsa' platforms support
* Add initial Intel 'Broadwater' platforms support
i.e. 'Nineveh' NIC, ICH8 ata_piix
* Add Realtek 8168
* Add BCM 5708, 5715, 5780
* Add Megaraid SAS
* Add Marvell PATA support
* Add ATI SB600 IDE support
* Add Broadcom SATA support
* PATA and SATA support for MCP55, MCP61, MCP65
* Add Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG drivers to x86-64
* Update Adaptec AIC-79XX HostRAID (a320raid) driver to 3.00.073
* Add support for Adaptec AIC-94XX controllers (adp94xx 1.3.11424)

- Other kernel-related changes:
* Suspend/resume fixes
* Update Xen to 3.0.1 on both i586 and x86_64 architectures
* Update RSBAC to latest 1.2.4 bug fixes

- Fix 1 buffer overflow that could have lead to a crash in the stage1
part of the installer (prior to starting up the graphical installer)

Notes (not part of the CHANGES.txt file):
- Some of those new things are already part of CS4
- A similar Update CD will be made for CS4 afterwards
- Broadcom SATA is for some of those new rev.F Opteron systems
- We could not really test AIC-94XX since we don't have those cards
- For Broadwater platforms, this does _not_ include audio & accelerated X

More than 2 years ago I reported a problem with aic79xx in combination
with the Adaptec 39320A card on a Tyan dual Opteron BM.
I have now tested the same SCSI card on the same MB with the 2.6.17
kernel on Mandriva 2007.0 x86_64, as well as with the Linus 2.6.19
kernel in contrib, both with the same result:
A cp from an IDE disk to the SCSI disk hangs the system completely,
when I copy a few hundred MB of files.
This is basically what happened 2 years ago.
The aic79xx driver seems to have been updated to 3.0
Maybe this card is never going to work, but it would be nice to
know why. Any comments are appreciated.
